Asi Wind is a New York based painter and performer.
To him, art making is the only language that enables him to convey ideas and thoughts that can’t be expressed otherwise. His art delves into his background as a Jewish Israeli, who tries to challenge taboos and old conventions.
His biggest influences have always been artist like Lucian Freud, Francis Bacon and Vincent Van Gogh. In his mind, they were able to connect to the core of their beings through art.
Besides being a painter, Asi Wind is a full-time performer and recently debuted his sold out Off-Broadway show “Concert of the Mind” where he demonstrated extreme human abilities like solving two Rubik’s cubes, one in each hand while being blindfolded, and memorizing the names of the entire audience.
Woody Allen has described Asi Wind as “unbelievable.” Paul Newman called him “the best I have ever seen.” A committee of Wind’s peers recently presented him the International Merlin Award for “Most Innovative Show,” an award previously given to David Copperfield and Penn & Teller.
His symbiotic passions for art and magic both deal with the power of the mind and the relationship between what’s real and what’s not.
